We are proud to announce that we have received a 2021 commendation from the American Association of School Librarians for advocacy work on behalf of school librarians in Nebraska. 

In February 2020, we released The New Library Learning, a short film featuring one school librarian in Nebraska and statewide representation from Courtney Pentland, a board member from the Nebraska School Librarian Association. In addition to demonstrating the important function of school libraries, the six-minute piece focused on the role of school librarians in instruction.

In May 2020, we produced a series of Facebook Live events checking in with educators and families about how they were adjusting to the beginning of the pandemic. Nebraska Loves Public Schools partnered once again with Nebraska School Librarian Association to highlight the work school librarians were specifically doing to support their school communities at that time.

The partnership between our work with Nebraska School Library Association has produced multiple advocacy videos school librarians can use with their stakeholders to discuss the important role school librarians play in instruction as well as other supports they provide.
