In these heartbreaking times for many Nebraska families, we’re proud of those who are helping to keep #NebraskaStrong. So many communities across the state, including students and families, have jumped in to provide aid in this time of need. ⁣⁣

Since 2011, we’ve created films and commercials in many of the communities affected by this historic flooding. As schools prepare for what’s next, we’ve compiled a list of statewide relief efforts that can provide help for families and our schools. ⁣⁣

Now, and when students return to school, it is important to be compassionate and understanding, and to offer support where needed. Consider volunteering or supporting relief efforts that help in the immediate stages and aftermath of this tragedy. ⁣⁣We’ll be updating this list with more links of ways to get involved.

• Columbus Public Schools Disaster Relief - Updates and aid for Columbus Public Schools 
• Millard School District - The Millard Public Schools will collect cleaning supplies for the Salvation Army from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m on Wednesday, March 20 at the Don Stroh Administration Center, 5606 S. 147th St. Items needed include: 
  • Mops and buckets
  • Work gloves
  • Rakes and shovels 
  • Household cleaners and bleach
    
    
• The Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce and United Way of South Central Nebraska - Collection drive. Please have all items to the Chamber Development Center by Wednesday, March 27.
  
  

• Letters of Encouragement - Write a letter of encouragement to someone affected by the floods. Mail your letter to the TeamMates Central Office and we’ll send them to communities impacted. Find our TeamMates Strong letter template.

• Red Cross — With the devastation that has struck our communities, let’s help provide items for those in need. Items requested are listed below. Find a location for drop off here.

• American Red Cross of Nebraska & Southwest Iowa - encouraging Nebraskans to donate to their flood relief fund.
  
  
• Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska - Monetary donations to assist those affected by the horrific and ongoing flood/​storm damage in Nebraska can be made here.
  
  
• Fremont Public Schools - For monetary donations, visit Fremont United Way. 
  
  
• Grand Island Community Foundation - The Grand Island Community Foundation has established a Disaster Relief Fund for Central Nebraska. Funds will be available for the local area to assist with relief related to the disastrous flooding seen in the Central Nebraska area. Those wishing to contribute to the fund can do that at www​.gicf​.org. GICF will be in contact with local communities to distribute the funds.
  
  
• Hy-Vee - Customers can donate any amount at the register or customer service counter to help with flood relief efforts. Hy-Vee will then match consumer donations up to $50,000.
  
  
• Kearney Area Community Foundation - The Kearney Area Community Foundation has a Disaster Relief Fund set up to help those in the Kearney area suffering loss from the recent devastating flooding. • The Salvation Army - Provide relief to victims of the widespread flooding help relief efforts by donating here.
  
  
• United Way of the Midlands - 100% of every donation to the Nebraska/​Iowa Flood Relief Fund will be directed to nonprofit programs meeting people’s needs for emergency shelter, food and more. Donors will have the opportunity to direct their gift to a specific community within Nebraska.
