I Love Public Schools

Story By:

Alyse Wulff

I graduated from Burke High School in 2007. I am a proud Bulldog alumna, and I was impacted greatly by many educators during my time there. DeAnn Hanisch was and still is a fine arts teacher, sharing her gifts and passion for art with students. She is often behind the pottery wheel--however, she also spent her time outside of the school day assistant coaching softball. I was fortunate enough to have her as a leader in both of these avenues. DeAnn Hanisch taught me what it looked like to have passion without fear and to take the time to invest in what matters (people and things you love!). I am so grateful for the time I spent at Burke and for all of the teachers that daily poured into me; not only caring about my education, but also about the person I was to become.
