The first day of school is my favorite tradition. Each year, we have a school-wide assembly in the gymnasium with the students and staff. An emcee (one of our teachers) introduces each teacher and gives a short bio. As the introduction is going, the teacher enters the gym and the students go crazy! Sometimes we use our school-wide theme to make it extra special (superheroes, Star Wars, etc.). It creates a lot of hype and excitement for the day and school year and really sets the tone. The energy throughout the school is incredible and the students look forward to it each year.
