In these For a Better Life shorts, learn just how difficult it is to navigate the legal immigration system and gain status in the United States.
The Center for Legal Immigration Assistance Executive Director explains the importance of guiding immigrant and refugee families through the complicated immigration process.
ABOUT THE SERIES
For this series, we visited Wilber Czech Days to understand the state’s deep-rooted immigrant history, traveled to the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. to understand the national impact on incoming populations and we’ve worked with Lincoln Public Schools’ bilingual liaisons to find families to share what the experience looks like through their eyes.
We learned more from Schuyler Public Schools and Omaha Public Schools about changing demographics and we ventured to Mexico to create empathy for our neighbors and help others understand how our public schools aid these children and families when they arrive in Nebraska.
We hope to bridge the connection between the immigrant and refugee experience and the American experience to understand our students in our public schools.
