Based on the latest annual report from the Nebraska Department of Education, afterschool programs are making a big impact on public school students in measurable ways.

From increased overall attendance to increased number of regular student attendees, improved programming to stronger family engagement, programs of the Nebraska 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC), a federally-funded competitive grant program that supports the creation of programs for children of working families, have seen success in the last year. Though the report shows that students from all socioeconomic backgrounds participate in the 21st CCLC, those children specifically in high-needs buildings have seen the most significant growth.
