Ellie Sorensen, a graduate of Elkhorn South High School, is the founder of the suicide prevention and awareness nonprofit HOPE Heals Inc. Each year, Ellie and her team put on an event called A Walk for Hope: Lighting the Darkness where they raise funds to provide financial assistance for counseling services to families with teens battling depression.
Ellie has been working to raise awareness for suicide prevention since 2015.
People are not alone when they are going through the toughest times of their life.”

This year’s event takes place virtually due to COVID-19. The event begins on June 1, 2020 and ends on June 5, 2020 with a drive through parade. See what is happening each day on the HOPE Heals Inc. website.
