In the classroom, students learn about important subjects like math, science, English, and more. But when the bell rings, they get to expand their knowledge and creativity with afterschool programs like Think Make Create (TMC) Labs!
What is the TMC Lab? Also known as a Mobile Makerspace, TMC Labs are tiny tinkering trailers on wheels that were developed specifically for STEM programming with Nebraska’s rural schools in mind.
Mobile Makerspaces provide students with an opportunity to build their creative problem-solving skills by participating in hands-on activities. The trailers contain everything program coordinators need to set up stations that get students engaged in team-building STEM work. From art supplies to robots, and everything in between, Mobile Makerspaces complement what students are learning during the school day in a fun, hands-on way.
While this program originated in Nebraska as a way for rural schools to implement more robust afterschool programming, they have expanded into other locations from Idaho to Taiwan!
With 44 Mobile Makerspaces currently on the road in Nebraska, the program is a massive hit with students and educators alike. Watch how students at Grand Island Public Schools are thinking, making, and creating with their Mobile Makerspace.
