It's the first Friday of November and we were honored to highlight a wonderful educator at Diller-Odell Public Schools, Reading and Math Interventionist, Stacy Hennerberg!
As the Diller-Odell staff gathered in the gym wearing their matching orange I Love Public Schools shirts, you could sense the excitement they all had to celebrate their colleague.
It doesn’t hurt that they have an awesome principal to add to the hype!
There’s no need to wonder why Stacy was honored this Feel the Love Friday. She’s been an educator for 30 years moving from different grade levels like fifth grade, third grade, and kindergarten until finally landing on her newest position: Reading and Math Interventionist.
She loves that her new position allows her to work with students of multiple grade levels and that she can also collaborate with different teachers in the building.
Stacy stresses the importance of communicating, not just with her colleagues but with her students and their families. She knows that when students fully understand the goals they are working towards, they will be more motivated.
We were fortunate enough to chat with Stacy this week to hear all of her stories. It’s definitely worth the watch to hear a heartwarming story of a student who was new to the country proudly learning a new language and assimilating to a new culture. Keep the tissues nearby because it may bring tears to your eyes.
How to celebrate Feel the Love Friday
On the first Friday of every month we ask educators, students, parents, and community members to wear their I Love Public Schools gear and share a memory or a story about their public school.
Each month we also highlight one school and surprise an exceptional educator from that school! Look for our posts throughout the day on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
We are proud to announce that we have received a 2021 commendation from the American Association of School Librarians for advocacy work on behalf of school librarians in Nebraska.
