The first Friday of every month is Feel the Love Friday! On this special day, we celebrate teachers who go above and beyond for their students. December’s Feel the Love Friday teacher of the month is James Bates, a Social Studies teacher at Wilber-Clatonia High School who is a favorite among students.
What makes Mr. Bates so special? According to his students, he treats them with respect and brings an interactive and humorous side to learning. He gives them a voice in class and talks to them like adults. He also coordinates Multicultural Day where students at the school get exposed to and learn more about other cultures around the world.
Check out the video above to hear what he has to say about the iconic barber’s chair that is always in his room!
Every day you try to build relationships with every student you have in class. You have to be sincere and honest. If they know you truly care you can accomplish some great things together.”
We were also lucky enough to check in on other teachers and faculty at Wilber-Clatonia. Take a look at their photos below! If you have a story of a teacher that has impacted your life or a picture of you wearing your I Love Public Schools gear, share with us on social media using #ilovepublicschools!
