Pender Public Schools has quite the tradition of motivating our elementary students before taking the state tests each spring. Each class testing on a particular day gets free breakfast and eat together as a class after the school day begins. Then they go back to their homeroom class and read notes sent to them by their parents encouraging them to try their best on the test that day. The teacher answers last minute questions, plays a motivational song and/or video, and when it is time to test, they do a walk through around the elementary section of the building where all other classes line the hallways to form a tunnel walk. Music is played, students and teachers clap and cheer and high five the class walking through on their way to test. Most individual classes then form a huddle and yell their own "team" cheer before returning to the classroom to begin the test.
