I Love Public Schools I Love Public Schools

There was a child who wished to learn to play an instrument but he was late in joining Band, so he had a lot of catching up to do. He could not afford his own instrument, and the instrument he chose was too large to take back and forth from school to home in order for him to practice anyway. We set up after-school practice times so he could get some one-on-one time with me and get caught up. Since he rode the bus to and from school, I would often take him home after our practice sessions since he would miss the bus. He is still in Band today and is doing well. We still sometimes schedule after-school practice when he needs help.

We have very nice, considerate students here, who strive to be outstanding in every way. When my husband and I(we team teach) had to attend to major personal illness issues, our students came through by making sure rehearsals kept going in a productive manner. Their compassion and leadership were a great thing to watch and it made me proud to be their teacher.
